NOVO-OGAREVO, June 13, (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin says that Russian-British political dialogue is highly dynamic and trustful."We have just discussed forthcoming G-8 and Russia-EU contacts, and my working visit to the UK," Putin said after talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair."Such intensive contacts highlight mutual interest," Putin noted.
It pleases me to say that bilateral relations are very good, Blair said.
We discussed trade ties, rapidly developing energy-sector relations, etc., he noted.
We had a very interesting discussion of current Russian affairs, he noted.
Putin said the North European gas pipeline was a highly important cooperation project.
"Fuel-and-energy cooperation is developing actively. British investors channel tens of billions of dollars into it," Putin stressed.
In his words, the 2004 trade turnover topped the $9-billion mark.
Blair explained why he could not attend VE-Day celebrations in Moscow May 9.
I could not come because I was busy forming a new Cabinet, he said.
I want to pay tribute to the courage and heroism of Russia's people and Armed Forces that defeated Nazism and enabled us to live in a free world, Blair noted.
In his words, Russian-British cooperation during WWII was a key element of defeating Nazism.
