MADRID, June 12 (RIA Novosti, Juan Cobo) - Russian baritone Vasily Ladyuk won a Madrid music contest, Spanish daily El Mundo reported on Sunday.

For Ladyuk, a postgraduate student of the Moscow Chorus Academy, this is not the first prize won in Spain, El Mundo says. Earlier this year, he won the Francisco Vignas signing contest in Madrid.

Renowned Spanish opera tenor Placido Domingo who founded the contest known as Operalia seeks to hold it in a different city each year and declares that the goal is to look for young musical talents.

This year's Operalia was held in Domingo's native Madrid where he conducted the Madrid Symphonic Orchestra.
