GROZNY, June 12 (RIA Novosti) - Chechen president Alu Alkhanov condemned what he called bombing of a Grozny-Moscow passenger train earlier today, which injured 15 passengers 158 kilometers to the south of Moscow. "This incident calls for a thorough investigation, and the culprits should be put to trial," Alkhanov said.

"Those who bombed the Grozny-Moscow passenger train are destructive groups that still try to bespatter the Chechen people and inculcate the idea of the Chechens as a terrorist community on Russians and the world," he said.

"Some people seem very eager to bespatter the Chechens by bombing passenger trains with women and children. They might hope that the idea of a Chechen will again become that of explosions and terrorist attacks, irrespective of whether Chechens themselves are responsible for them," the Chechen leader said.

"[This is because] many groups inside and outside of Chechnya dislike its progress in terms of economy and political stability, and the breakthrough in fighting international terrorists and illegal armed groups," he said.
