According to a VTsIOM poll, 66% of Russians are proud of the national anthem, 65% of the flag and 60% of the coat of arms.
However, each fourth Russian has no feelings for the state symbols.
Russians have the best knowledge of the national coat of arms - 83% of the polled could describe it, while 7% gave a wrong answer.
Russians are not so familiar with the national flag. Only 54% of the respondents named the order of its colors, 32% named the colors but failed to give their exact order and 8% turned out not to know the colors. The Russian flag has three horizontal stripes, white, blue and red (from the top to the bottom).
The national anthem is the least known to Russians. Only 23% of the polled were able to cite its first lines, while 43% gave the wrong text.
According to sociologists, the number of people who know the text of the anthem grew by 4% as compared to 2004.
Most Russians (60%) said that the music of the former Soviet anthem was the best for the modern Russian anthem. The amount of its supporters grew by 14% over the last 5 years.
The poll was conducted on June 4-5, 2005. In all, 1,561 people in 153 settlements of 46 Russian regions, territories and republics were polled. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
