BRUSSELS, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov proposed to hold joint exercises of task forces of the Russia-NATO Council in Pskov (Russia's northwest) in 2006. "If you are interested we can plan joint exercises of task forces of the Russia-NATO Council in Pskov next year," Ivanov said at the council's session in Brussels.
The minister did not give details of possible exercises.
Ivanov called on his NATO counterparts to support Russia's initiative. "We expect similar initiatives from our counterparts from the council," he said.
