* Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, currently in Italy, will hold talks with his Italian counterpart Gianfranco Fini.

MOSCOW

* Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen will arrive in Russia on a routine visit.

* The Federation Council (the upper house of the Russian parliament) will host:

- a session on the development of the oil pipeline system in connection with the implementation of the Russian Energy Strategy till 2020 (13.00);

- a roundtable on the topic "Practice and problems of the improvement of state and municipal financial control in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) (11.00).

* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host the following press conferences:

- with head of the federal agency for building and housing and communal facilities Vladimir Averchenko on the topic "The housing reform and its media coverage. How to build a constructive dialogue between authorities and society?" (11.30);

- with Human Rights Watch Executive Director Ken Roth who will present results of an independent investigation into the May 13-14 turmoil in Uzbek city Andizhan (13.00).

* The State Kremlin Palace will host a forum on the topic "From terror to planetary ethics: religions and peace." Representatives of different religions and scientists will attend the forum (10.00).

* Patriarch Alexis II of Moscow and All Russia will meet with Speaker of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Pierferdinando Casini in his residence in the Svyato-Danilov monastery (11.00).

* Moscow will host a conference on the topic "The 100th anniversary of Tsushima. Lessons for Modern Russia." Representatives of the presidential staff, Russian government, State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament), Federation Council and Defense Ministry are invited (10.00).

* The Russian Interior Ministry will host a briefing on countering fake money crimes (11.00).

* Moscow will host a roundtable entitled "Russia-Georgia: a look into the future" (10.00).

* Moscow will host a press conference on the 27th Moscow international film festival (14.00).

* Chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin will attend the 8th conference of the Association of Russian Audit Bodies.

OMSK

* The 6th international exhibition of military hardware, technologies and armaments of land forces, VTTV-Omsk-2005, will open.

VLADIKAVKAZ

* An extraordinary session of the North Ossetian parliament will be held. President Alexander Dzasokhov is expected to submit his official resignation.

* The Supreme Court will continue hearings of the case of Nurpashi Kulayev involved in the terrorist attack on Beslan's school No. 1 on September 1-3, 2004.

* Russian transport minister Levitin will hold a "round table" "Interaction Between the Bodies of Authority and Business in the Formation and Realization of the 'Strategy of the Development of Transport in the Russian Federation till 2010'" taking as an example the comprehensive approach to the development of the transport junctions and the commercial sea fleet.

NOVOSIBIRSK

* The Siberian Energy Congress will open in Novosibirsk. Its participants will discuss development prospects of the Siberian fuel and energy complex and a new version of Siberia's development strategy.

KHABAROVSK

* Khabarovsk will host a session of the sub-commission of the association of regional administrations of Northeast Asian countries on border cooperation.

YEKATERINBURG

* The 2nd Eurasian international engineering forum will open in Yekaterinburg. About 100 leading Russian and CIS companies will participate in the forum.

KIEV

* A plenary session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation will open in Kiev. Representatives of the parliamentary assembly of Russia-Belarus Union will be attending.

BAKU

* The 12th traditional exhibition "Oil, natural gas and oil processing on the Caspian Sea" will open in Baku. The exhibition will feature over 280 companies from 40 countries. President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliyev will attend the opening ceremony.
