Field charge discovered in mountain pass in Daghestan is not dangerous

MAKHACHKALA, June 5 (RIA Novosti) - According to sappers, a field charge discovered on Sunday in the Buinaksk pass in Daghestan (A North Caucasus republic neighboring on Chechnya) does not pose any threat, republican police authorities told RIA Novosti.

Explosives experts found out the "bomb" consisted of 13 empty artillery shells. They were marked "blank-fire." According to experts, the shells do not pose any threat, but can be used by explosives specialists in preparation of terrorist acts."

The "blank shells" were in sacks. At present, the sappers are removing them for further disposal. The site, where the shells were discovered, was at the side of a road near a road cafe, five kilometers from Makhachkala (the capital of Daghestan).

The pass connects Makhachkala with Buinaksk and other mountainous regions.
