ST. PETERSBURG, June 4 (RIA Novosti, Anna Novak) - The Constantine Palace in Strelnya (St. Petersburg's suburb) hosted a gala of the Paris Haute Couture Syndicate on Friday, June 3.

Haute couture collections of the three houses, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior and Christian Lacroix, were presented abroad for the first time. The couturiers and leading models demonstrated the collections.

A marquee with 48 five-meter columns placing some 1,000 people was set near the Constantine Palace for the show.

The defile was staged by Bernard Trux, in charge of haute couture shows since 1976, and the company Belloir & Jallot founded in 1860. This company is an official partner of the Paris City Hall, the Paris Haute Couture Week and the film festival in Cannes.

After the defile and dinner offering French delicacies the guests saw a fountain and fireworks show.

Russian and foreign politicians, businessmen, public and cultural figures attended this unprecedented fashion event. Among them were French movie star Catherine Deneuve and fashion designer Stella McCartney.

On Saturday, the guests will be shown exclusive Christian Dior jewelry and will meet with representatives of Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior and Christian Lacroix fashion houses.

In compliance with the French legislation, only members of the Paris Haute Couture Syndicate can use the Haute Couture brand. Haute Couture houses should have headquarters, an atelier and a boutique in Paris. The Paris Haute Couture Syndicate has only 10 members.
