NOVOGORSK, MOSCOW REGION, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - Many-time world, European and national champion and Athens-2004 Olympic gold-medal holder in calisthenics, Alina Kabayeva, has decided to return to competitive sport. She will however be absent from the nearest event-the European championship to start in Moscow on June 10.

"It is wonderful that Alina Kabaeva will make a comeback. She is to attend the national team's training session in Croatia after the European championship," Irina Viner, the Russian calisthenics team coach, told RIA Novosti at the Novogorsk base.

"Alina is a smart girl. I begged her not to tell journalists about her decision to quit competitive sport though we were both aware of this," said Viner. In her opinion, Alina Kabayeva is a real artist who can't live without calisthenics and her return has nothing to do with financial stimuli. "Her blood is up. Once she would laugh at the sound of the Russian hymn, now she will cry. She's back," said Viner.

Irina Viner announced that Kabayeva would take part in the European championship's gala concert with two performances. "Though she has already started training, she is not yet prepared for strenuous competitions," concluded Viner.
