"The American party will be represented by at least a battalion, Russia will possibly engage a regiment," Lieutenant General Alexei Potapov told journalists on Friday.
Friday saw a tactical phase of the Torgau-2005 Russian-American exercises at a shooting range in the Moscow region.
The Russian lieutenant general and his American colleague Major General David Zabecki highly estimated the degree of compatibility of Russian and US land forces.
The parties have practised reacting to attacks of a hypothetical aggressor and pacifying it today. For the first time operations were conducted by joint reconnaissance units and joint crews of tanks, infantry combat vehicles and artillery sections.
In total, 160 servicemen of each party were involved in Torgau-2005.
The Grafenwer shooting-range, Germany, will host the next stage of the exercises.
The exercises will last till June 3, 2005.
