MOSCOW

* CIS deputy foreign ministers, including Russia's Sergei Razov, will hold a session on the reforms of the Commonwealth bodies.

* The Interfax news agency will host the following press conferences:

- with Human Rights Commissioner of the Council of Europe Alvaro Gil-Robles "On the submission of the report on the human rights situation in the Russian Federation to the Russian government" (17.00);

- on the completion of four-year compensation payments to former slaves of Nazi Germany in Russia, Latvia, Lithuania and southern CIS countries; the program was financed by the German fund Memory, Responsibility and Future and the Austrian fund Reconciliation, Peace and Cooperation (10.00).

* The Russian Intellectual Resources national committee will hold a roundtable on the intellectual foundation of effective power (14.00).

* Chairman of the Russian State Duma security committee Vladimir Vasilyev will give a press conference on the topic "Man-caused catastrophes and Russia's security. Is it possible to cancel moratorium on death penalty for terrorists? Adamov's extradition" (11.00).

* The European Club will hold a session on the topic "New policy on the post-Soviet space". "The Ukrainian version of the orange revolution" collection and other books of the Europe publishers will be presented at the session (14.00).

* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host:

- a roundtable entitled "Islamic threat: a myth or reality?" (15.00);

- a press conference with the brothers Alexander and Sergei Sinelnik on the first stage of their rowing tour across the Indian Ocean (12.00).

* The Meshchansky Court in Moscow will continue reading the verdict in the trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Platon Lebedev and Andrei Krainov (11.30).

* The 3rd Russian fireworks festival dedicated to the 60th anniversary of VE Day will take place on Frunzenskaya embankment. Members of the jury and journalists will observe the event on board the Knyaz Yuri river liner (21.00).

* The active phase of the Torgau-2005 Russian-U.S. joint military exercises will start at the training ground in Solnechnogorsk (the Moscow region). Troops will practice defense battles and field firing involving tanks, military vehicles, grenade-launchers and small arms.

KALININGRAD

* Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Transportation Minister Igor Levitin will arrive in the Kaliningrad region on a routine trip. They are to inspect a cargo-and-passenger ferry and an office of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Lavrov will also attended the Nastoichivy flagship of the Russian Baltic Fleet. The visit will focus on the Kaliningrad transit problem.

* The Palace of Congresses in Kaliningrad will host the Russian Insurance Summit (May 27-29).

SAMARA

* Samara will host a scientific-practical conference "Regional policy in the gas sphere" organized by the Russian Gas Association. It will focus on the formation of the Russian gas market, national gas policy, and principles of gas supplied at regulated and non-regulated prices.

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY

* The U.S. Navy destroyer Cushing will pay a friendly visit to the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (May 27-31). This is the first-ever visit to this port by a U.S. battleship. Only Japanese and French ships visited the port before.

BAKU

* Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov will hold talks with the cochairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group for the Nagorny Karabakh conflict Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia), Steven Mann (USA) and Bernard Fassier (France).

WASHINGTON

* Washington will host the 13th session of the Russian-U.S. working group for counter-terrorism under the chairmanship of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak and Nicholas Burns, the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.

MILAN

* The second stage of the Orlyonok (Little Eagle) international meeting of Russian and Italian children will start in Milan (May 27-31). Russian and Italian schoolchildren aged 12-15 participate in the forum. The first stage took place in Moscow on May 22-26.
