MOSCOW, May 26 (RIA Novosti) - Kyrgyzstan is currently checking Uzbek refugees' involvement in the events in Andizhan.

"We identify who, where, from and for what purpose arrived in Kyrgyzstan and whether they took part in the events in Andizhan," Kyrgyz Ambassador to Russia Alas Dzhumagulov told a press conference today.

According to the diplomat, no cases of confiscation of firearms from Uzbek refugees had been registered in Kyrgyzstan.

There were 549 refugees in Kyrgyzstan, mostly in the Dzhalal Abad region. Dzhumagulov said that tent camps, food and ambulance had been arranged for the refugees.

Speaking on the situation in Uzbekistan, the ambassador stressed that it was the republic's interior affair.

"They will rectify the situation themselves. Our remarks on the matter are unwished and unethical," the official said.

An armed capture of a prison and a number of government buildings took place in Uzbekistan's fourth largest city, Andizhan, on May 13. The country's law enforcement authorities stormed and

liberated the administration buildings. The unrest caused victims, many were wounded.

According to official information, 169 people were killed, however, journalists and human right activists reported hundreds of dead.
