ART FAIR BEGINS IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - The annual international art fair Art Moscow begins today at the Central House of Artists here and will run through May 29, according to the website Museums of Russia (www.museum.ru).

Modern art has recently become popular and even trendy in Russia.

This year, the fair, which began in 1996, is hosting more than 50 participants. The exposition will expand beyond the second floor and onto the third. About half of the participants will be coming from abroad, including Milan's B&D Studio, Paris' Galerie Albert Benamou, New York's i-20 gallery, London's ibid projects, Munich's Karin Sachs Gallery and Dusseldorf's Schuebbe - Projektroom Gallery.

The fair booths will display special projects including the exhibit-project "Pitersky" by Pyotr Byely, Sergei Bugayev-Afrika and Sergei Denisov, a video piece by Peter Fishly, David Weiss and Roman Signer, an exhibit by Braco Dimitrievic, an exposition entitled "Art for Playboy" by the magazine's organizers and an exhibit by David Ter-Oganyan.

The exhibit worked on by the Moscow Collectors, "The Field of Sight," and "Cow Parade - Moscow 2005" will also be on display.

Cow Parade is an international, non-profit art project that has was founded seven years ago. About 500 painted cows will available here from August 1.
