MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - The State Duma (parliament's lower house) has instructed the Russian parliamentary delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to initiate the consideration of violations of democracy in Ukraine and invite international institutions to note the negative cases in the intra-political processes in Ukraine which are contrary to the OSCE principles.

The draft resolution of the State Duma was prepared by its corresponding committees and submitted for consideration on Friday.

351 deputies voted for with no votes against or abstentions.

It says among other things that the State Duma is deeply concerned over the numerous facts of persecution of representatives of the political opposition in Ukraine by the new authorities.

"Mass dismissals of not only officials of the state apparatus but also workers in education, science, culture disliked by Kiev are under way in Ukraine," parliamentarians stressed.

They pointed with special concern to the fact of arrests in Ukraine of prominent political and public figures who declare in public their disagreement with the policy of the Ukrainian authorities.

Another concern is the attempts of the new leadership of Ukraine to establish political and ideological control of also the nongovernmental mass media and bring pressure to bear on journalists criticizing the authorities.

Russian parliamentarians are also concerned over the activities of the present Ukrainian authorities regarding re-privatization of a number of big Ukrainian enterprises with the participation of Russian capital.

"Such actions give birth to doubts in the sincerity of the Ukrainian authorities to build up the market economy on the legal basis and produce serious political risks for foreign investors, including Russian," the Duma resolution reads.

All this is "out of line with the course declared by the new Ukrainian authorities towards the buildup of a democratic political system, ensuring of human rights, and creation of a modern market economy," the resolution reads.
