MOSCOW, May 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will attend the IMDEX Asia international naval exhibition for the fifth time. Singapore will host this exhibition May 17-20, 2005. This was disclosed to RIA Novosti at the press service of the Rosoboronexport state intermediary, which exports and imports weapons.
The Russian display will mostly feature small and medium-sized warships.
The IMDEX Asia exhibition is the largest regional exhibition that invariably attracts leading global producers and clients. This exhibition is organized by the Singapore Navy's high command, the Ministry of National Development (MND), as well as the Singapore-port administration.
"Rosoboronexport, which has accomplished a lot in its military-technical cooperation with regional states, perceives the Russian delegation's participation in the current Singapore naval show as an important stage in promoting Russian weapons and combat hardware on rapidly growing South-East Asian and Asia-Pacific markets," press-service officials stressed.
IMDEX Asia exhibitions are held once in every two years.
Singapore hosted the previous IMDEX Asia exhibition in 2003. That exhibition covered an area of 9,000 square meters, with 200 foreign enterprises displaying their products. Twelve enterprises of the Russian defense industry took part in the exhibition.
