CHISINAU, May 16 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Novosadyuk) - The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has not been informed about Russia's ban on imports of vegetables and fruit from Moldova, minister Anatoly Gorodenko said on Monday. He commented on Russian media reports that Russia imposed a ban on imports of vegetables and fruit from Moldova from May 16 because these products do not meet international standards.

According to Gorodenko, the Moldovan embassy in Russia is trying to find the official source of these statements. After that, this problem can be put on the agenda of the joint Moldovan-Russian commission for economic cooperation, Gorodenko said. He is a cochairman of this commission.

All in all, 538,000 tons of vegetables (25% less than in the same period last year) and 42,800 tons of fruit (214% more) were exported to Russia over the first three months of 2005.
