MOSCOW, May 16 (RIA Novosti) - Russia produced, January into April, slightly more than 375 million liters of vodka and other strong alcoholic beverages-10 per cent below the amount of last year's initial four months. In particular, April's output made 105,090,000 liters.
These and related statistics were announced at a Moscow gala today, in which top ten brands of vodka and other strong drinks received awards for dominating the Russian market of the previous ten years.
241,410,000 liters of ethyl alcohol was distilled out of raw foodstuffs, January-April-96.8 per cent of the amount for the same period 2004.
Grape wine production saw a drastic, 30 per cent cut, to 86,040,000 liters.
Brandy output has slightly risen, on the contrary, to 12,650,000 liters-a 2.8 per cent increase.
Mild alcoholic beverages, containing below 9 per cent of alcohol, made 138,940,000 liters-15 per cent shrinkage.
