VLADIKAVKAZ, May 15 (RIA Novosti) - On Sunday, a psychological aid center was opened in Beslan, a town in South Ossetia hit by a major terrorist attack last September.

The center named "We Are Together" was established by the Russian Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as part of a psychological aid program in the wake of the terrorist attack.

In addition, the Beslan district hospital received a unique microscope that will facilitate complicated surgery.

The opening ceremony took place at the local assembly hall where the psychological aid center is stationed.

"I am increasingly aware that there is a need for professional psychological aid. We just won't get through it all by ourselves," said former hostage Tereza Kokova whose two children also were taken hostage by terrorists.

The center will be funded from donations to the Red Cross worldwide and is expected to treat about 5,000 people in Beslan.

Students of Beslan's School No. 1 and their parents were taken hostage on September 1 till 3, 2004; 330 people, 172 of them children, were killed in a massacre that ensued.
