MOSCOW, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - Over 7 million veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers received personal messages of congratulation on Victory Day from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The presidential staff sent 7.2 million personal messages of congratulation of the head of state to veterans and home front workers living in Russia, in the former Soviet republic and foreign countries," reports the Kremlin official web site.
The inter-regional association of young veterans of the Great Patriotic War has asked the President to establish Day of Partisan Glory to commemorate the role of partisans and fighters of the resistance movement. The association proposes to mark this day on June 29 when the Soviet leadership issued a directive on the formation of partisan units on occupied territories.
