MOSCOW, May 12 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian company Multimedia System, subsidiary of the biggest Russian private service corporation AFK Sistema, has announced the start of commercial operation of the subscription interactive television system Stream TV, the daily Kommersant reports.

A compressed and encoded television signal is transmitted through the ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) IP-network. The set for linking to Stream TV costs $210. The cost of the Stream TV basic package of services is $9.95 and the expanded package $17.95s.

Company general director Alexander Leiviman said that making the project repaid needs an audience of 200,000-300,000 people. The Stream TV authors see as its target viewership above all users of the broadband high-speed channel of stream access to the Internet, numbering about 200,000 Muscovites, the daily writes.

Stream TV is going to win the market by the low subscription rate, "video on demand" system absent from the other subscription television systems, the so-called double offer - television and the Internet in one package of services.
