MOSCOW, May 9 (RIA Novosti) - The Arab-Israeli is the most entangled and dramatic conflict the world has inherited from the past, said Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, as he was summing up today's Moscow session of the international Middle East mediation Quartet.
The unsettled conflict dangerously encourages extremist moods and terror acts. It takes international teamwork, with an emphasis on the Quartet and countries of the involved region, to solve the burning problem, stressed the minister.
A chance has appeared this year to settle the conflict, and Mr. Lavrov hopes the world will not miss that chance.
He pointed out a symbolical coincidence in time of today's session and 60th V-E anniversary celebrations. "We came together against an enemy we shared. Now, we are to join hands against terrorism," the Foreign Minister emphatically called.
