MOSCOW, May 8 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian and Ukrainian presidents, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Yushchenko, defined 15 most important items on the agenda of bilateral relations, which include the free trade zone and the formation of a Common Economic Space (of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan). According to the Ukrainian president, an agreement that all these issues would be resolved in the form of road maps was reached at the meeting with the Russian leader. The two presidents held a bilateral meeting immediately after signing a joint statement on the establishment of a Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission. The two leaders highly assessed the signed document. The Russian presidential press service said Putin and Yushchenko had discussed the whole complex of bilateral relations and prospects of their further development.

Yushchenko said that in line with the statement on an interstate commission, the commission's chairmen - the two countries' presidents - would meet and hold its sessions twice a year.

The commission's main tasks will include discussing the state of bilateral cooperation, revealing the most promising trends of its development and ways to improve interaction, monitoring the state of implementation of the existing bilateral agreements. The tasks will also comprise holding consultations on urgent issues of security and foreign policy, and analyzing and settling problematic issues of bilateral relations.

An economic cooperation committee is established, to be led by the two prime ministers.

Subcommittees on security (led by defense ministers), on international cooperation (led by foreign ministers), and on humanitarian cooperation (led by education and science ministers) are established.

Russia and Ukraine's security council secretaries will coordinate the commission's work.

The joint Russian-Ukrainian cooperation commission established in line with an agreement of January 16, 1996, will be dissolved.
