BISHKEK, May 7 (RIA Novosti, Yulia Orlova) - The Government of Kyrgyzstan is doing its best to stop the emigration of Russian-speaking people. This was disclosed here today by acting republican president Kurmanbek Bakiyev at a meeting with representatives of Russian compatriots living in Kyrgyzstan.

"First of all, the Russian-speaking population's outflow can be explained by the economic factor and lack of confidence in tomorrow. People do not know whether the situation will remain safe and calm," Bakiyev noted.

In his words, the new Government is doing all it can to facilitate an economic and industrial recovery and to stabilize the national situation.

Talking to his interlocutors, Bakiyev said that the Government had managed to partially stop the all-out seizure of land plots and to launch an anti-corruption struggle in less than 45 days.

Kyrgyzstan now has a population of five million, including about 300,000 to 500,000 Russians.
