MOSCOW, May 1 (RIA Novosti) - Recent terrorist acts in Egypt will hardly stop Russian tourists from visiting that country, announced press secretary of the Russian Union of Tourist Industry Irina Tyurina in an interview with Echo Moskvy radio station on Sunday. On Saturday, terrorists attacked foreign tourists in the center of Cairo. Four tourists from Sweden, Italy and Israel were wounded.

According to Tyurina, "the current security situation in Egypt is rather bad, and if you add to it frequent traffic accidents and high prices for tour packages this year, of course, there is a certain drop in consumer demand, but it would be wrong to assume that the flow of Russian tourists to Egypt will dwindle significantly."

"Turkey and Egypt are the only affordable tourist destinations without visa regime," she explained. "However, Turkey has also become more expensive, and there was a terrorist act recently in that country, as well."

Besides, she said, "Russian tourists believe they have some sort of immunity from danger."

"Egypt has been promoted as a year-round tourist destination. The number of tourists visiting Egypt increased to 586,000 people in 2004," she said. "I do not think the flow will decrease significantly, although the most cautious people might certainly think twice before they go."
