MOSCOW, April 27 (RIA Novosti's sport commentator Mikhail Smirnov) - Russian travelers are set to go around the globe world in the latitude 56 North in 56 days. The expedition will start from Moscow on July 1, its head Alexei Scherbakov told RIA Novosti.

The route passes through Russia, Canada, the Great Britain, Denmark and Sweden. The expedition, having 10 to 15 permanent members, may be increased to 30 to 50 members on some legs. Remarkably, anybody willing and ready to pay 25,000 dollars may join in. For comparison's sake, a ticket to the National Geographic round-the-world trek costs about 40,000 dollars.

In the idea of sponsors of the expedition, it will be the first research cut-off of the latitude 56 to answer many ethnographic, geographic, ecological and social questions.

Scherbakov said that the latitude 56 crosses many captivating places, such as the Europe-Asia border in the Southern Urals, Lake Baikal, and the renowned Geyser Valley in the Kamchatka Peninsula. In Canada, Russians will follow the tracks of famous traveler Alexander Mackenzie, traverse the Coast Ranges and the Rocky Mountains, raft down the mountain Peace River, visit Indian camps. In Scotland, the route passes through Lake Loch Ness, where they will not miss a chance to look for the famous Nessie. For that the expedition will have special up-to-the-minute equipment. Then comes mountain climbing to Britain's highest peak Ben Nevis. Having crossed Denmark and Sweden on bicycles, travelers will return to Moscow on August 25.

The expedition's means of transport are different from customary planes, trains, bicycles, cars to "exotic" harvester combines, submarine, donkeys, hand cars, tanks, wheel-chairs, lawn-mowers, push-carts. This and the young age of travelers (the average age is 22 years) make organizers of the expedition hope for being included in the Guinness Book of Records in several nominations.
