Subscribe
MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti) - Security is being stepped up at Moscow's international airports ahead of events to mark the 60th anniversary of the Allies' victory over the Nazi Germany in the Second World War. A lot of foreign dignitaries are due in Moscow for this year's V-E Day celebrations.

Most of the VIP guests will be arriving at the Vnukovo Airport, so intense preparations are currently underway here to make sure emergencies are prevented or dealt with effectively. An additional runway, provided with new light equipment, opens at Vnukovo shortly. Special parking lots have now been fitted out for jets carrying official delegations and the ramp area has been repaved.

Some adjustments will also have to be made with regard to the passage of traffic on highways linking the airport with downtown Moscow.

Over 50 foreign heads of state and government will converge on Moscow for this year's V-E anniversary celebrations.
