ON TUESDAY VLADIMIR PUTIN TO VISIT MIDDLE EAST

MOSCOW, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - On Tuesday Russian President Vladimir Putin will go to the Middle East and visit Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian lands.

Presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said: "The list of themes to be talked is vast - the economy, trade, energy, space, military-technical cooperation".

In Egypt the Russian head of state will have talks with President Hosni Mubarak, general secretary of the League of Arab States Amr Moussa. Vladimir Putin will also visit Giza and its famous Egyptian pyramids.

In Israel Putin will have talks with President Moshe Katzav and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. In Jerusalem he will visit the Russian Church mission and inspect the old city.

On the Palestinian lands, Vladimir Putin will have a meeting with the PNA head Mahmud Abbas. The program of the presidential visit also intends the laying of flowers to the grave of Yasser Arafat.

The Declaration of Cooperation will be signed on results of Vladimir Putin's visit to Egypt.

The upcoming talks in Cairo "will target discussion of the course of realization of the agreements reached at the Russian-Egyptian summit in Moscow in May 2004", Prikhodko noted.

At the meeting with the president of Egypt, it is planned to exchange opinions on the regional problems, above all as regards the state of the Middle Eastern peace process, the situation in Iraq, Lebanon and around Syria, Prikhodko stressed.

Special attention at the Vladimir Putin-Hosni Mubarrak meeting will be paid to paving the ground for the implementation of large-scale projects.

As regards the talks with Egypt on Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization, the presidential aide stressed: "We would like to complete the protocol with Egypt this year". The president will speak about it, he said.

During the trip, the president will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko, head of the Chamber of Commerse and Industry Yevgeni Primakov, senator Mikhail Margelov. Business will be represented by Alexei Fedorov, general director and general designer at the RSK Mir and Sergei Chemezov, head of Rosoboronexport (Russia's major specialized agency for arms export).
