"I will not withdraw resignation. Why should I? From the very beginning I've said that my goal now is to help in putting the situation back on the road of the constitution, promote stabilization in my country so that the new election be held in the constitution space. That is why I will not do anything to withdraw resignation", Akaev said in the RIA Novosti interview.
"In line with the protocol adopted in Moscow, I could do that", Akaev said. "They (deputies) have twice violated the protocol", he added.
Prime minister and acting president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiev has signed the law stripping Akaev of the status as the first president, the attendant privileges and benefits.
On Friday the parliament of Kyrgyzstan by a sweeping majority of votes made changes in the law On the Guarantees of Activities of the President of Kyrgyzstan, thus stripping Akaev of the status of the first president of his country.
Commenting on the parliamentary resolution, deputy and acting Prosecutor General Azimbek Beknazarov told RIA Novosti that it is contrary to the agreements reached with Akaev.
"He (Akaev) can withdraw resignation because we have not fulfilled the conditions and changed the law on the first president", Beknazarov said.
If the parliament accepted Akaev's resignation without changing the law, it would have automatically secured all the privileges including the inviolability of "his living and service premises, means of transport and communication, archives, other property, documents, luggage and correspondence". All this would also go for the family members of Akaev, Beknazarov said.
"If we fulfil this condition (leaving for Akaev the first-president status with the ensuing benefits and privileges), people will not understand us", Beknazarov thinks.
