The Egyptian-based JAC company signed contracts last month to assemble UAZ 3163s, Gazelles and Sobols in Egypt. The company is also weighing prospects to assemble IZh vehicles in its country.
Russia's KAMAZ Autoworks is negotiating to export to Egypt trucks of established makes and of a new generation.
Those Russian companies are only emerging in the Egyptian market. Unlike them, AutoVAZ has a considerable experience of work here. Last year alone, it dispatched to Egypt more than 1,700 sets of VAZ 21074 car parts. 1,400 of the Egyptian-assembled cars have sold off for now. Egyptian-based factories are manufacturing a third of necessary parts.
AvtoVAZ sold to Egypt 650 ready cars of many makes last year. A service station appeared in Cairo, July, to cater for them.
The number of Egyptian-assembled cars is to increase to 2,000 this year, and ready item sales to 1,600.
