AMBITIOUS PLANS OF NEWBORN PUBLIC MOVEMENT GEORGIA FORWARD

MOSCOW/TBILISI, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - Representatives of the new Georgian public movement Georgia Forward are going to visit Moscow and meet with representatives of the Russian public and political circles.

RIA Novosti learnt this by telephone from press secretary of the Russian embassy in Tbilisi Yevgeni Ivanov on results of the meeting between Russian ambassador to Georgia Vladimir Chkhikvishvili with representatives of the Georgian public movement.

Ivanov said that the ambassador has got a sidelight on the program, goals and tasks of the new public-political movement Georgia Forward.

"We discussed the situation in Georgia, state of Russian-Georgian relations. Participants of the Georgian public movement have voiced the desire to visit Moscow and meet with representatives of the Russian public and political circles", the Russian diplomat said.

The news agency Novosti-Georgia leant from Georgia Forward that its representatives would like to visit, besides Russia, also the United States and other countries, meet with representatives of the Parliament of Europe.

"We are going to increase the role of our movement in 'popular diplomacy' and settle questions of vital importance to Georgia", the movement said.

Georgia Forward was set up a few months ago and is in opposition to the present leadership of Georgia. One of the most prominent leaders of Georgia Forward is Irakli Batiashvili, holding in the former parliament the post of the chairman of the defense and security committee.
