BALASHIKHA, MOSCOW REGION, April 8 (RIA Novosti) - Army General Vladimir Mikhailov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, hopes the new Kyrgyz regime will make no claims on the Russian air base in Kant, he said to the media today.

The base is going on with its routine unhampered now, and will soon update a landing strip, he added.

All papers to ensure normal base performance are ready, and will be coordinated with the host country quite soon, said General Mikhailov.

As he went over to a joint Russian-Chinese military exercise, due August into September, the commander said there would be several aircraft classes to represent the Russian Air Force-heavy and cargo planes, and front and army aviation craft.

The Airborne Troops Commander-in-Chief has requested General Mikhailov to cede another two transport aircraft for the war games. "But then, certain exercise issues are not settled as yet," he remarked on that score.

The Air Force commander also summed up the Frontier 2005, command and staff exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which Tajikistan hosted quite recently, and a command and staff training session of the united CIS anti-aircraft network. Both exercises were notable as SU 27 SM jets made a maiden appearance there even before their flight tests were over. The craft offered top-notch performance to give reason to say that Russian designers have come close to fifth-generation planes, said the general.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization brings together Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
