Among his ministry's targets for this year, he highlighted IT technopark establishment, radio frequency scope conversion, digital television promotion, developing a digital communication net assigned for government defense and security control, and streamlining a unified temporal navigation service.
It is a must to update and improve the related legislative basis, stressed the minister. In particular, world web use deserves close attention. Here, priorities include public explanation of legal aspects of using information technologies for distance social services, a legal definition of the electronic media, and offering a legal status to anti-spam technologies.
Efforts to liberalize communications and demonopolize trunk telephony are to go on this year, added Mr. Reiman. The work promises a communication service profit exceeding 700 billion rubles (R27.94/$1). That means a 30 per cent profit increase against last year's, said the minister.
