MOSCOW, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Navy has advanced an initiative to establish a unified state system for information coverage of maritime surface and underwater developments. Its blueprints will reach the federal Defense Ministry quite soon, Captain, 1st Rank, Igor Dygalo said to Novosti.

Captain Dygalo is aide to Admiral Vladimir Kuroyedov, in command of the Russian Navy.

Admiral Kuroyedov posed the task of setting up the information system as he was addressing the latest session of the Naval Board interbranch commission for naval activities under the federal government, added Captain Dygalo.

Apart from information coverage of maritime surface and underwater developments, the prospective system also envisages global sea monitoring.

Working at the blueprints together with the Defense Ministry are the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Roshydromet-Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. The efforts are part of an Electronic Russia federal target program.

The system envisages a ramified on-line resource network on the Naval Board information portal.
