BEIJING, April 2 (RIA Novosti) - The events in Kyrgyzstan will not affect Russian-Chinese relations, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yevgeny Primakov, the honored chairman of the Russian-Chinese committee for friendship, peace and development, said at the Diplomatic Academy of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing on Saturday.

Speaking about the reasons of the power shift in Kyrgyzstan, Primakov said that the discontent in the country was caused by the aggravating socio-economic situation and the lack of political democracy, as well as fraud in the parliamentary elections because many of Akayev's relatives had won seats.

In Primakov's opinion, deposed president Akayev will live in Russia.

"I hope the CIS will see no more revolutions," Primakov told Russian journalists after the lecture at the academy.

He highly assessed the current condition of Russian-Chinese links. Speaking about the development of bilateral economic cooperation, Primakov pointed out the importance of electric energy supplies from Russia's Far East to China.

However, these projects do not make an alternative to the construction of a pipeline.

"We are also interested in joint ventures in the engineering and hi-tech sphere," Primakov added.

According to Primakov, on Saturday afternoon he will fly to Shanghai to meet with former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, an old friend of his. "This will be our ninth meeting," he noted.

Yevgeny Primakov will leave China on Sunday, April 3.
