RUSSIA CAN BEGIN SELLING UP-TO-DATE ARMS TO CHINA

TOKYO, March 28 (RIA Novosti's Andrei Fesyun) - After the European Union lifts the limitations on arms trade with China, Russia can begin selling it state-of-the-art weapons and successfully compete with Europe in this field.

This was said by executive director of the National Institute for Defense Studies Sigekatsu Kondo, presenting on Monday the annual report East Asian Strategy of the Japanese National Defense Agency.

It says that China has of late been holding multi-purpose exercises minding the possibility of hostilities against Taiwan. China's defense spending is increasing by over 10 percent annually. Simultaneously, its leadership is seeking to update its army as soon as possible.
