BISHKEK, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Representatives of the deposed Akayev's regime would not be arrested, announced coordinator of security-related structures of the republic Felix Kulov on Sunday.

"We have not and will not arrest our political opponents or former officials," Kulov stated.

He said that the police had arrested about 150 people for looting. "We have established order in the country. Now we have to maintain it," Kulov stressed.

He reported that 39 law enforcement officers and "twice as many protesters" were injured during the assault on the government building.

Kulov told RIA Novosti that he had not decided yet whether he was going to put forward his candidature for the president of the republic (June 26,2005). In his opinion, "the issue of the upcoming presidential elections is very problematic."

"If the country is involved in the political struggle for power again, anything might happen," he believes.

Kulov also stated that he did not have any controversy with opposition leader Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who had been appointed interim president and prime minister. "I deal with my tasks - maintaining order in the republic, he tackles his own tasks," Kulov emphasized.

He denied rumors about a possible attempt on Bakiyev's life.

"I do not believe in such rumors. Until now I have not received any concrete information confirming these rumors," he stated. "Any situation is possible, though, but I do not possess any reliable information on the subject," he added.

Kulov also told RIA Novosti that he was not concerned about his personal safety. "I do not fear anybody, except God, and believe me I am not bragging," stated the former vice-president of the country who had been released from prison by opposition forces after Askar Akayev had fled from Kyrgyzstan.
