FIVE OF AN-24 CREW BROUGHT TO NOVOSIBIRSK

NOVOSIBIRSK, March 26 (RIA Novosti) - Five members of the An-24 crew who have survived the March 16 air crash were brought over to Novosibirsk from Naryan Mar by a special flight on Saturday evening, a spokesperson for the Novosibirsk office of the crashed plane's owner, the "Regional Airlines", told RIA Novosti.

The surviving crew members include co-pilot Oleg Mezintsev, flight engineer Stanislav Davydov, air hostess Marina Volobuyeva and flight technicians Sergei Malykh and Sergei Prokhorenko.

The air crash survivors were brought over to Novosibirsk on board an An-30 aircraft specially equipped for transporting bed patients. En route, the injured crew members were accompanied by a team of medics.

The reanimobiles awaiting the survivors in the Novosibirsk airport took four of them with spinal traumas to the surgery unit and one with a head injury to the neurosurgery unit of a local hospital.

The crew of the An-24 aircraft that crashed on March 16 near the village of Varandei in the Nenets Autonomous District comprised seven members. Two of them - first pilot Viktor Popov and flight navigator Sergei Ovsyannikov died in the accident.
