UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES CREATION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION

KIEV, March 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian and Ukrainian presidents agreed to dissolve the Russian-Ukrainian commission in its former composition and create a new intergovernmental commission Putin-Yushchenko, announced Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko during a joint press conference with Vladimir Putin yesterday in Kiev.

According to Yushchenko, the committee will consist of four sub-committees -- on cooperation in the sphere of defense, on international relations, on economic cooperation and on humanitarian issues.

Coordination of the committee's activities will be the responsibility of national security councils of both countries, Yushchenko stated.
