MOSKOVSKY SETTLEMENT (Moscow region), March 12 (RIA Novosti) - The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) declared information and propaganda war on the Russian authorities.

Agitprop methods and informational work of the party were key issues on the agenda of the Saturday plenum of the KPRF Central Committee in the Moscow region.

KPRF deputy chairman Ivan Melnikov pointed out stagnation in the party's agitprop activities.

According to him, some consider KPRF a party of pensioners and others - a party under which life was better. In this connection, Mr. Melnikov called on party organizations "to take advanced positions in the movement of protest."

"Today the party has new prospects for agitprop activities and it enters a phase of violent information war," he noted.

"Today the party's goal is to undermine the unity of the information flow of the authorities," he stressed.

In his words, the Communist Party should be most aggressive and offensive in this information war. He also came out for the launch of a tough anti-presidential campaign. KPRF should restore the polarization between the left-wing opposition and the authorities, he added.

In his opinion, Communist deputies should speak louder, tougher and more eloquent. Elements of street protest should be brought to the State Duma, Ivan Melnikov said. Moreover, it is necessary to start discrediting state media, he continued.

Mr. Melnikov called on Communists to organize public actions and even scandals involving young people and to join public associations. Among other agitprop methods he named distribution of leaflets, posters and labels, the use of the Internet and SMS.

"We should predict actions of the authorities and become more active figures on the information field," Mr. Melnikov emphasized.

"People should listen to us and understand us properly," he concluded.
