ONE BILLION DOLLARS ON ADDITIONAL SERVICES

MOSCOW, March 10 (RIA Novosti) - In 2004 the volume of Russia's market of cellular communication additional services was 1,025 million dollars. The share of additional services in the total profits of cellular operators increased from 8 to 12.5 percent. The daily Delovoi Peterburg (Business St. Petersburg) cites these figures with reference to the report of the iKS-Consulting research company.

SMS, MMS are as before the largest segment in the structure of profits from additional services. On the results of last year, its share was 45 percent. Profits from mobile Internet rose from 3 to 10 percent. At the present time, the country has 5 million GPRS users.

The most rapidly growing services in Russia in a few years to come will be the mobile Internet, MMS and contingent services. In 2005 their total share in the general volume of profits from additional services may come up to 50 percent.

"Market members are more and more paying attention to other segments. The most promising of them are Java games, media projects and mobile marketing services, as well as chat and acquaintance", explains iKS-Consulting analyst Oksana Pankratova.

In specialist estimates, in 2005 the Russian operators' profits from additional services will increase by over 70 percent as against 2004. The volume of the Russian market of cellular communication additional services will exceed 1.6 billion dollars and the share of additional services in the operators' total profits may be 15.5 percent.
