MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT VOTES FOR "MOLDOVAN PEOPLE"

CHISINAU, March 6 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Novosadyuk) - Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin voted during the parliamentary elections.

"I voted for the Moldovan people," he said putting his ballot in the ballot box.

He refused to make any other comments, despite numerous requests by local and foreign journalists.

RIA Novosti correspondent reports the presence of more than 100 journalist at the polling station where the Moladovan president cast his vote.

Leader of the opposition bloc Democratic Moldova Dmitri Bragish stated after the voting that the participation at the current election was higher than during previous parliamentary election.

"As far as I know, despite bad weather, the electoral attendance in the first two hours of voting was higher than four years ago, he said.

Mr. Bragish expressed confidence that the elections would be announced legitimate. More than 50% percent of voters must participate in the elections in that case.

Secreatry of the Central Election Committee Valentin Vizant told RIA Novosti that in the morning residents of the western regions of Moldova were more active in the voting process.
