RUSSIA-USA: DIPLOMATS DEBATE MOLDOVAN DEVELOPMENTS

MOSCOW, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russian and US diplomats met in Moscow today to discuss the current situation in Moldova and Transdniestria, its breakaway republic, Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs press and information department says in a statement.

Hosted by Russia's Foreign Ministry, today's conference gathered, on the host country's side, Igor Savolsky, special ministerial envoy for contacts with CIS countries, and Valeri Nesterushkin, Ambassador-at-Large; and on the American, Stephen Mann, the U.S. Department of State's Ambassador-at-large, and Alexander Vershbow, Ambassador to Russia.

The Parties made detailed analyses of the latest developments in Moldova and Transdniestria, and agreed to carry on expert opinion exchanges so as to come at practicable patterns of getting negotiations out of a deadlock for all-round political settlement of the Transdniester issue.
