MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti) - Expocenter in Krasnaya Presnya, in downtown Moscow, will shortly host a 6th international forum, High Technologies: 21st Century. More than 300 companies have confirmed participation prospects for today, said Frantisek Kovrigo, organizing committee ad hoc team leader. Second in charge of the municipal department for research and industrial policies, he was addressing today's organizing committee session to take stock of forum preparations.

The forum is due, April 18 through 22. The overall number of corporate exhibitors is expected to exceed 450. Apart from the host country, the companies to be involved are based in India, Iran, South Korea, the USA and many other countries, said Mr. Kovrigo.

High technologies account for a half to 80 per cent of many countries' gross domestic product, pointed out Yuri Luzhkov, Moscow mayor and forum organizing committee chair. The number of companies eager to exhibit their cutting edge and high tech produce skyrockets with every passing year. Ever more people visit the Moscow exposition for a firsthand view of technologies on display. The show "helps pool in the resources of many industrial companies thus to enhance high-technological potential," stressed Mayor Luzhkov.

Andrei Reus, federal Deputy Industry and Energy Minister and organizing committee co-chair, called on Russia to set up "state and private entrepreneurial partnership patterns that would be effective enough."

Work is underway to draw a list of military-oriented and dual-purpose produce authorized for show and sale to overseas purchasers, he added.
