TEHRAN, February 27 (RIA Novosti, Nikolai Terekhov) - Alexander Rumyantsev, Russia's Federal Nuclear Energy Agency chief, is presently in Iran on a routine visit. He hopes an agreement will be signed quite soon for Unit One of the Bushehr nuclear power plant to return its depleted fuel to Russia.

"We hope the document will be signed even today," he said to RIA Novosti before taking his flight to the Bushehr site.

"To see for ourselves how Unit One construction is going on, update its schedule, and see how the hosts are receiving Russian experts are our main goals," added Mr. Rumyantsev.

As we announced on a previous occasion, Unit One assembly has been scheduled for this year, to commission the unit next year.

"Russia intends quite soon to dispatch another thousand employees to the project. That's our principal task for now," our interviewee went on.

As he said yesterday, "Saturday's talks and document coordination took longer than expected. We have to carry on the discussion, Sunday. There are no differences whatsoever between Russia and Iran over the document."

Russia's President Vladimir Putin received Hasan Rokhani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, in the Kremlin, February 18. Iran is not engaged in whatever nuclear weapon R&D, President Putin positively said on the occasion. "We shall carry on our partnership with Iran in all fields," he pledged.
