"What is important, it can coordinate the actions of all the Palestinian organizations, including those taking a tough stand on Israel", Mr. Lavrov told the press conference in Astana.
"There is a very good chance that, following Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, implementation of other clauses of the Roadmap can begin", Mr. Lavrov believes.
To him, the goal of the international conference in London due on March 1 will be support for the Mahmud Abbas government and non-wrecking of the peace process.
"It is required from Israel to manifest real readiness for fulfilling its obligations under the Roadmap. This concerns settlement activities and the building of the security wall", Mr. Lavrov said.
"Hopefully, the sitting of the international Quartet, to be held coincidentally with the London conference, will confirm adherence to the Roadmap", said the head of the Russian foreign policy establishment.
Russia is doing its share in the Middle East settlement both in the humanitarian sphere and by giving support to the Palestinian security forces, which have undertaken protection of public order in the region, Mr. Lavrov said.
Russia will very soon resolve the problem of military hardware supplies to Palestine, Mr. Lavrov said.
"We have already supplied military machines to Palestinians. They have asked us for additional machinery supplies, including armored personnel carriers. These applications are being considered and the Russian leadership supports them", Mr. Lavrov said.
The foreign minister also said that Russia has plans to build two schools on the Palestinian lands.
