BRATISLAVA, February 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that Russia would not turn off the way of democratic society building.

"Russia chose democracy 14 years ago independently, without external pressure. This is the final choice and there is no return. The guarantee is the choice of Russian people and no outside guarantees can be given," the Russian leader said at a press conference following the Russian-US summit in Bratislava.

Vladimir Putin and George Bush discussed cooperation in gas sphere, in particular, Russia's supplies of liquefied natural gas to the United States in 2010-2011, the Russian President announced.

According to him, Russia and the US deem it necessary to stop proliferation of missile and nuclear technologies.

The Iranian problem and North Korea's nuclear program were discussed at the talks, Vladimir Putin said.

"We share common opinions and common approaches. We should stop proliferation of missile and nuclear technologies. Proliferation of weapons does not improve the security situation in certain countries and in the international community on the whole," Mr. Putin emphasized.
