MOSCOW, February 13 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom Management Board Chairman Alexei Miller and BASF AG CEO Dr. Jurgen Hambrecht discussed possible participation of Wingaz GmbH in the work on the feasibility study of the North European gas pipeline (NEG) construction project, a Gazprom press release says.

Wingaz GmbH is a joint venture of Gazprom and Wintershall AG (the latter is a 100% subsidiary of BASF AG).

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of future expansion of bilateral cooperation, in particular, their joint participation in the implementation of new Gazprom projects, including exploration of new gas deposits and construction of the North European gas pipeline.

Mr. Miller and Dr. Hambrecht also discussed bilateral cooperation in the framework of another joint venture, Achimgaz.

"The sides noted that at present Achimgaz finalizes thorough technical research and conducts preparation for production of gas and gas condensate at the Achim field test site, which is part of the Urengoi oil and gas condensate deposit," the Gazprom statement says.

BASF AG is the world's leading chemical company. Its main products include chemicals, synthetic materials, fine chemicals for the farming, food processing, pharmaceuticals, animal and human nutrition and personal care industries, oil and natural gas.

Gazprom and Wintershall AG has been cooperating for more than 13 years through their joint ventures, Wingaz GmbH (35% and 65% of charter capital respectively) and Wieh (50% and 50%).

Achimgaz was founded on parity basis by Gazprom and Wintershall AG in July 2003. The goal is to develop the first test site of the Achim field at the Urengoi oil and gas condensate deposit on the basis of a service contract.
