RUSSIA LOOKS FORWARD TO CLOSER CONTACTS WITH ASEAN

MOSCOW, February 5 (RIA Novosti) - Yangon hosted Russia-Myanma consultations, Alexander Alexeyev, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs taking part, reports Russia's Foreign Ministry press and information department.

As the Parties discussed Asian and Pacific developments and prospects to step up a Russia-ASEAN dialogue, they pointed out the importance of a maiden Russia-ASEAN summit, due in Malaysia this year.

The Russian delegates said their country was eager to develop its all-round partnership with the Association, which is among essential factors in international relations, the ministry says in a statement.

The negotiators also discussed Russia-Myanma relations, and a wide range of global and regional issues. They expressed a shared interest in building up contacts between the two countries' business communities.
