JOURNALISTS MISINTERPRET KUDRIN

MOSCOW, February 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin has never said that Vneshekonombank has attracted credits from Chinese banks to fund the purchase of Yaganskneftegaz, the ministerial press service says in the statement circulated on Wednesday.

"The verbatim transcripts say that it is journalists, who in their commentaries have pegged the Vneshekonombank credits to the Yuganskneftegaz sale", the statement reads.

At a recent news conference, answering the question on the Central Bank-published data on the increased borrowings by organs of state administration and whether or not it they linked to the purchase of Yuganskneftegaz, Mr. Kudrin said: "Now, I cannot comment on that. I can only say that it may be Vneshekonombank's borrowing of six billion dollars from Chinese banks to credit Rosneft", reads the statement.

Re-asked what banks could have given credits to buy Yuganskneftegaz, Mr. Kudrin said: "It's hard to say as regards Yuganskneftegaz. Vneshekonombank did attract credits from Chinese banks. I cannot speak in greater detail now," the press service cites Mr.Kudrin.
