VLADIKAVKAZ, December 27 (RIA Novosti) - The community of Beslan, in the Russian republic of North Ossetia, will have low-key New Year's and Christmas celebrations this time around, Mairbek Tuayev, who chairs the town's public council, has announced.

For the first time in years, no Christmas tree will be installed on Beslan's central square and New Year's parties will be held at the local kindergartens only.

The decision has been made by the public council together with the town administration, and reflects the will of the community, Tuayev said.

Traditional entertainment will be skipped in Beslan to honor the memory of the 330 community members lost to the hostage crisis this past September, 172 of them children.

A Russian parliamentary commission set up to lead an official inquiry into the Beslan school siege will make its findings public in late February or early March next year, Sergei Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council, or parliament's upper house, has announced to reporters.
